A company does not exist in isolation: It has employees, suppliers, customers and the whole community. What marks out a company that is concerned about the development and growth of its communities is respect for people and nature and for the quality of life we can see around us.
The company supports charitable institutions in its communities. We provide monthly donations to entities such as APAE – Nossa Senhora Medianeira School, the Spiritualist Charitable Society and Montenegro Hospital, among others.
Since 2006, we have been providing the team of volunteers from Cáritas in Montenegro, with blankets, food parcels and sweets to be distributed to families in need on special occasions, such as Christmas, as well as during the winter.
In Rio Grande, TANAC supports Christmas for Children in Need every December and has donated more than 3,500 baskets of sweets to this cause, since the Wood Chip Unit was opened.
Many cities of Rio Grande do Sul have been affected by storms in recent years. TANAC has being doing its bit, both in response to requests from municipal governments and on its own initiative, to donate food and building materials to those made homeless.
It has become common for TANAC staff to make donations to various entities at Christmas. Staff have worked together to make Christmas a happier time for needy children in the municipality of Montenegro. Students at APAE are given Christmas parcels every year in the municipalities of Encruzilhada do Sul, São Lourenço do Sul and Piratini.
TANAC supports a body therapy project at Montenegro Hospital, involving patients of the Psychiatric Unit there. A Physical Education expert gives workshops on stretching, relaxation and physical activity for the patients each week. During the project to set up the psychiatric and treatment for chemical dependence unit, the company donated several items for the wards that accommodate the patients.
The company runs Environmental Education Projects for its communities. In Montenegro, the Embrace Nature Project reaches hundreds of students every year. They are able to visit the Tannin Unit’s facilities and see how the organization is concerned about preserving the environment in which we live, during production.
At the Forestry Unit there is an ecological trail at the Camboatá Farm, in Piratini, which encourages students from the schools in the region to preserve nature, by showing them the fauna and flora that is protected and constantly monitored within TANAC’s forest plantations.
In this way, TANAC is anticipating the social demands of the community and becoming an active supporter of the municipalities in its area of operations and therefore, in the State as a whole.
